London : Another 14,000 people were unemployed in Great Britain from January to March, reaching 1.61 million, the highest level since late 2007, reported the Central Statistics Office Wednesday.
The note detailed that with benefits or not, that means 5.2 percent of the economically active population.
It also specified that the number of people receiving compensation increased by 7,200 cases in April up to 806,300, the largest monthly increase since April 2006.
The average salary increase of workers was 4 percent in the 12 previous months until last March, added the note.
According to experts the industrial sector is the most affected by strikes, which they consider the result of the arrival of economic slowing down of the United Kingdom in this sector.
