Three-day workshop on value-based journalism for Muslim youth

Bangalore: Bangalore-based Institute of Higher Learning is going to organize a three-day workshop on value-based journalism for a targeted audience of Muslim youth from across the country from 30th May-1st June in Bangalore.

A significant aspect of cure for the social problems of this century lies in rectifying the negative trends in the Media, the task will, doubtless, constitute a colossal undertaking in itself. Much ground-work will have to be accomplished if the seeds of a new revolution in media trends are to be sown with any degree of success. It is with this daunting mission in mind that the institute will hold the workshop, says its invitation statement.

As may be expected from the afore-mentioned context, the primary objectives of the workshop will include the identification of those Muslim youngsters who show the prized combination of possessing a commitment to Islam and a natural talent for writing/communicating in good English. The workshop would also provide for the correct preparation and orientation of these youth in order that they succeed in utilizing value-based journalism as a rewarding career. The target audience for the workshop will, therefore, be: Muslim students in Journalism & Mass Communication disciplines, Muslim students studying at the pre-university, undergraduate, graduate and also post-graduate levels, students with an aptitude for, and/ or some experience in, writing, IT sector professionals who can work as freelance journalists/ writers and Muslim correspondents from regular newspapers and periodicals.

The workshop would offer its participants interactive sessions with reputed professionals in the field of journalism and mass communication.
