Abducted Pakistani ambassador reaches back home

Islamabad: Pakistans ambassador to Afghanistan, Tariq Azizudin, Saturday was flown to Islamabad from South Waziristan tribal agency, bordering Afghanistan, along with his driver and a bodyguard.

He was held by Taliban militants for at least 96 days. Foreign Minister Shah Mehmoud Qureshi and Interior Ministry spokesman Syed Kamal Shah received him at the militarys Chaklala air base. He was accompanied by his guard and driver, also kidnapped by Taliban militants along with him. Talking to newsmen, the ambassador said that he did not know who to label his kidnappers. He said he was not al all tortured during captivity and that he was kept in complete darkness by the kidnappers.

He said kidnappers thought him to be a foreigner. He said further that he missed his family the most and added that he will continue to fulfill his duties as the ambassador of Pakistan.
