New Delhi : Residents of the national capital woke up to a pleasant Monday morning as overnight thundershowers cooled the air to set a relaxed beginning of the working week.
The weather remained mostly cloudy Monday and there was a further drop in the maximum temperature, compared to Sunday’s maximum of 37.6 degrees Celsius.
In the rest of the country too, the weather remained somewhat pleasant as widespread rains and thundershowers kept the mercury low.
Himachal Pradesh, western Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi will receive more rains and thundershowers until Thursday, the weatherman said.
Squalls and hailstorms were also forecast at places in the region.
Eastern Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Orissa and West Bengal will receive rains and thundershowers until Thursday, according to the weather office.
The weather in central India will, however, remain dry, though rains and thundershowers are forecast at a few places in Chhattisgarh and western Madhya Pradesh.
The country’s highest maximum temperature of 45.8 degrees Celsius was recorded at Tuni in Andhra Pradesh.
Rajasthan will also remain mostly dry, but isolated thundershowers are forecast in the eastern part of the state.
In south India, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, coastal Andhra Pradesh and southern Karnataka will receive rains and thundershowers, according to the wather office. In the north-eastern states, isolated heavy rains are forecast in many places.
The Andaman and Nicobar Islands and the Lakshadweep Islands will continue to receive rains and thundershowers.
