Kabul : Afghan police claimed killing a dozen Taliban militants in western zone of the country on Sunday. A police spokesman in Afghaistan’s western province of Farah said the militants were killed during a joint operation in Bala Bulook district of the province. Muttallib, the police spokesman, said two police officers were also killed in the operation launched in the province on Saturday. Earlier in the day, the US-led coalition troops said one of their soldiers was killed in an operation in western Afghanistan. The military statement did not mention the exact location where the soldier was killed and nature of the incident. In a separate statement, the NATO-led ISAF also informed about the killing of one of its soldiers due to non-combat injuries.
Earlier, a suicide attack was carried out on Canadian forces in the southern province of Kandahar. An Afghan civilian was killed and three NATO soldiers were injured in the blast, NATO and Afghan officials confirmed.
