Mumbai : The Indian equities markets which opened in the negative zone Monday stayed in the red early afternoon. All key sectors faced selling pressure.
At 12.30 p.m. the 30-share benchmark index of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), The Sensex, was trading at 16,459.74 with a loss of 189.90 points from its closing figure Friday. It touched a high of 16,498.24 and a low of 16,370.09 points earlier.
At the same time, the S&P Nifty index of the National Stock Exchange was trading at 4,900.75 points with a loss of 45.80 points from its previous close.
The market breadth stayed negative. On BSE 613 stocks advanced, 1,799 declined and 57 remained unchanged.
