By SPA,

Conakry, Guinea : A member of Guinea’s presidential guard says junior officers angry over unpaid wages are holding the army’s second-ranking official hostage.

The guard and a family member of a high-ranking military official both confirmed that Mamadou Sampil, the army’s second-in-command, was taken hostage Monday night at the Alpha Yaya Diallo barracks. He was still being held Tuesday morning, the Associated Press reported.
