Mosul, Iraq : A suicide car bomb struck a police commando patrol in Iraq’s northern city of Mosul on Thursday, killing two policemen and wounding ten people, a local police source said.
A suicide bomber drove a booby-trapped police car into the patrol in the Ghabat area in northern Mosul and blew it up, Captain Aziz Latif, a police commando officer told Xinhua.
The attack, which took place at about 10:00 a.m. (0700 GMT), resulted in destroying of a police commando vehicle, killing two policemen and wounding five others aboard, Latif said.
Five civilians were also wounded by the attack, he added.
The attack in Mosul, the capital of Nineveh province, came as the U.S. and Iraqi security forces claimed substantial successes in their ongoing offensive in the Sunni province to uproot al-Qaida militants from their latest strongholds in Iraq.
