Shabwa, Yemen : A medical source said on Friday more than 500 persons have been affected by a dengue fever outbreak in Shabwa province, south-east of the Yemeni capital, Sana’a, Saba reported.
Deputy Director of the Health bureau in Shabwa Ahmed Saeed said the spread of dengue fever has increased in the province during the past two days, affirming the epidemic had infected more than 500 persons.
But he mentioned any deaths were not registered due to the illness.
Saeed voiced concern over the worsening health conditions of the province due to the proliferation of dengue virus and the absence of any proper government attention or role to combat the epidemic, noting government efforts are still temporary.
