Kabul : US-led coalition troops on Saturday said they had killed 19 and arrested two militants in multiple operations in different parts of Afghanistan on Friday.
Seven militants, including one armed female, were killed during the search of a compound used by a “known al-Qaeda leader”, in Dara-e-Noor district of the country’s mountainous Kunar province, said the statement. Two militants engaged in a clash with the troops during the search. The troops responded by killing both of them. In another engagement in the same compound, five more militants, including an armed female, were killed, it added. In Nadar Shah district of Khost province, two militants were killed during a search for Taliban and Haqqani network. Ten more militants were killed during another engagement in the same district, the military said. The operation was conducted against IED (improvised explosive device) and suicide bombers facilitators.
The military said two militants were captured during the operation in Nadar Shah district of Khost. It did not mention any loss on the part of the coalition troops.
Earlier, the coalition forces informed about the killing of one of its soldiers in eastern Afghanistan.
