Rocket lands near Peshawar airport, no casualties

Isamabad : Unknown militants fired a rocket on a nortthern Pakistani city which landed near the airport, but there was no report of material damage or loss of life.

A rocket fired from an unknown direction landed near the runway of Peshawar airport in Peshawar, the capital of the North-West Frontier Province (NWFP), police sources told KUNA.

Sources said that there was no human or material loss reported. They also said security has been beefed up around the airport and that police was conducting a search operation.

Meanwhile, security forces were engaged in clashes with militants in Dera Adam Khel tribal district.

According to security sources, forces pounded several militant hideouts and inflicted heavy damage on militants.

Sources feared casualties, but there was no word immediately available of wounded or killed.
