BJP to bring back POTA if wins, says Party President Rajnath

By NNN-PTI,

Bhubaneshwar, India : Accusing the UPA government at the Centre of failing to curb growing terrorism due to its vote bank politics and minority appeasement policy, the BJP today declared it would bring a tough anti-terror law like POTA, if it regains power.

“If we come to power, we will bring a strong law like POTA to curb terrorism as the situation demands tough anti-terror law. The UPA government is inclined to fight terror wearing kid gloves,” BJP president Rajnath Singh told reporters here.

Alleging that the Congress-led UPA was unable to crush terrorism due to its vote bank politics and minority appeasement policy, he said it was “shameful” that despite the recommendations of Veerappa Moily committee which underlined the need for anti-terror laws, the government was taking time.

“It shows the Centre’s indifference towards the gravity of the issue and exposes its gross inaction which has pushed the country into internal and external crisis as there were 63 blasts during the UPA rule so far,” Singh claimed.

Hitting out at those talking about “Hindu terrorism”, the BJP chief claimed it was a trick to divert attention from government’s failure on all fronts.

He said a political stunt could not be ruled out in the charges levelled against Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur as Congress-NCP was in power in Maharashtra state.

“She cannot be described as terrorist until and unless sufficient credible evidence is available against her,” he said.
