Lucknow : Six Nepali girls were allegedly held hostage and molested by Uttar Pradesh policemen at a guest house in Gorakhpur. One cop has been arrested and four others are absconding, police said Tuesday.
The girls, who were on their way to Dubai via Gorakhpur and Mumbai had decided to take a day’s break Oct 30 in the guest house.
“Inspector General of Gorakhpur received an anonymous call after which we raided the guest house and rescued seven persons including five women,” additional superintendent of police Vishwajeet Srivastava told IANS on phone.
He said while one constable, Rajesh Pandey, and two others, including the owner of the guest house, were arrested on the spot, four constables who, the girls alleged, had demanded money and molested them are on the run.
Gorakhpur superintendent of police R.K. Srivastava has suspended the police outpost incharge after the incident.
“No medical test was conducted as the girls did not complain of rape and they were sent to Nepal the same day,” he said.
