Ranchi : Jharkhand will set up a food processing park here at an investment of Rs.1 billion (Rs.100 crore) funded by the central government.
“The central government has approved Rs.100 crore to set up food processing park in Jharkhand. Around 200 acres of land will be required to set up (the) park,” Minister for Food Processing Industries Subodh Kant Sahay told reporters here Thursday.
Of the 200 acres, about 50 acres of land has already been allocated by the Jharkhand government.
Sahay said agricultural products will have an access to the international market with the functioning of the park. Also, the work for setting up the park will begin in next two to three months.
The decision for setting up the plant was taken by Jharkhand Chief Minister Shibu Soren and Sahay.
Sahay also held meetings with prospective private investors and invited investment for the park. Three Kolkata and Mumbai-based companies have expressed desire to invest Rs.200 crore in the park.
The park is likely to employ around 30,000 people.
