Murder case registered fortnight after death of two teenage girls

By IANS,

Bhiwani (Haryana) : The police Tuesday registered a case of murder without naming any suspect, a fortnight after two teenage girls were killed allegedly by members of their village for having met some boys on Diwali night.

“We have registered the case on the basis of information. No formal complaint has been made so far. We are investigating the matter,” said Bhiwani district police chief Sanjay Kumar.

The death of the two girls in Kaluwas village, the home of Olympic bronze medallist boxer Vijender Kumar in Bhiwani district, was reported by a resident through a complaint to the police and other agencies.

The complainant, Rajinder, said that on Diwali night (Oct 28), two teenaged girls were burnt alive by members of their community after they met some boys.

Police officials said they were trying to collect evidence of the remains of the two girls.

Kaluwas village, located on the outskirts of this southwest Haryana town, shot into fame in August when Vijender bagged the bronze medal for India in boxing.
