Chandigarh : Enthused by the success of Chandrayaan-I mission, the aero scientists of India are all geared up to discuss advances in aerospace technologies at the two-day national level seminar, ‘Aero Tech 2008’ that will start here Friday. APJ Abdul Kalam, former president of India, will inaugurate the Aero Tech 2008 Nov 14.
“The recent success of Chandrayaan-I has given a much-required impetus to the scientific community in the country and created a conducive environment for the growth of aerospace technologies in India,” Satish Kumar, chairman, Aeronautical Society of India, Chandigarh branch told media persons here Thursday.
“Different topics like the recent advances in aerospace technologies and their maintenance and how we can use them for the welfare of mankind will be discussed in the seminar. We will also discuss the available commercial opportunities in the arena of aerospace,” stated Kumar.
Over 300 scientists, engineers and technocrats from all over the country are expected to attend this seminar.
Aero Tech 2008 has been jointly organized by Aeronautical Society of India (Chandigarh branch), Terminal Ballistics Research Laboratory (TBRL), Central Scientific Instrument Organisation (CSIO) and 3 Base Repair Depot of Indian Air Force, Chandigarh.
“Scientists from Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and from many academic institutes and industries are expected to participate in the event,” said Kumar, adding there would be a healthy exchange of ideas, views and experiences on the latest technologies with a focus on future expansion of aero industry in the country.
