New Delhi : A doctor here Saturday rubbished reports of his involvement in the Malegaon bombing or the Abhinav Bharat group that supposedly masterminded the terror attack.
“I have no role in anything. I don’t (even) know what is the ideology of Abhinav Bharat,” R.P. Singh, an endocrinologist at a leading private hospital here, told news channels.
Singh acknowledged that he knew the self-styled Hindu religious leader Dayanand Pandey, who is in the custody of the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad.
Singh said he was “working for Kashmir refugees” and believed in Hindutva ideology.
Singh admitted he was present in Pandey’s office in Faridabad, adjoining Delhi, on Jan 26 this year where investigators believe the Sep 29 Malegaon bombing was planned. But he insisted he was not aware of any planning.
“Yes, I was there but no conspiracy was hatched in front of me,” he said.
Six people were killed in a Muslim majority area of Malegaon town in Maharashtra when a powerful bomb exploded during Ramadan. Police now say that Hindu rightwing activists were to blame for the attack.
