Guwahati : The National Security Guard (NSG) commandos should go for the kill and eliminate the terrorists holding Mumbai to ransom, a former head of the force said Friday, even as he warned that collateral damage in such a major operation was bound to happen.
“The NSG are capable of doing it and they (terrorists) should be eliminated. I am confident they would be able to do the job and ensure the terrorists are not able to escape,” Ranjit Shekhar Mooshahary, presently the governor of Meghalaya, told IANS.
The former NSG chief said collateral damages in such a big terror strike was bound to happen, referring to the large number of deaths of hostages. “Collateral damage is bound to happen in this kind of operation and we must accept it,” Mooshahary said.
He said the need of the hour now is to work out a comprehensive action plan to prevent terror attacks.
“It would need a cool head and deliberations and contemplated efforts,” Mooshahary said.
He said the Mumbai terror attack was by far the deadliest in India.
“Undoubtedly this is one of the deadliest attacks, but even the terror strikes in Assam were deadly,” Mooshahary said.
