Nine from Bihar killed in Mumbai attack

Patna : At least nine people from Bihar, including six Muslims, have been killed in the terror attacks in Mumbai, police sources said here Friday. Most of them were poor migrant labourers.

Mohammad Mukhtar Mian, a 35-year-old resident of Kakrar village of Sheikpura district, was killed at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST), one of the 10 places the terrorists attacked Wednesday night.

Mukhtar Mian left his village last month in search of work in Mumbai despite attacks on north Indians by the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), said Mohammad Javwed, a relative of the victim.

Mohammad Illiyas, a resident of Thav village of Nawada district, was killed along with his sister’s daughter and her husband at the CST station, according to the police.

“The family members are in shock,” said Sajjad Ahmad, a relative.

Vinod Kumar and his mother, from Nawada district, were also killed at the CST when they were waiting to board a train to Bihar.

The Bihar government has announced compensation of Rs.150,000 to the next of kin of each of the people from the state killed in the Mumbai attacks.
