Kabul : Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) backed by the U. S. -led Coalition forces killed 33 militants on Friday in southern Afghan province of Helmand, according to a coalition statement issued here on Saturday.
“ANSF and Coalition forces were conducting a security patrol when they were engaged by militants who fired from multiple fighting positions in Nad Ali district,” the statement said.
ANSF and Coalition forces returned fire primarily with small-arms fire and limited close-air support, killing 33 militants, it added.
More than 8,000 strength British troops have been deployed in volatile Helmand fighting militants and helping with reconstruction.
Moreover, the Coalition forces, according to another statement on Saturday, killed four Taliban militants including a targeted Taliban commander during an operation to disrupt Taliban militants’ roadside bomb and foreign fighter networks in eastern Afghan province of Ghanzni on Friday.
