Kabul : Two Afghan civilians were killed and three others were wounded in a suicide attack that targeted a vehicle boarding the German military attache in Kabul on Sunday, police said.
The attack was carried out by a suicide bomber who was on foot. The bomber hurled himself at the vehicle carrying in western part of the city.
Officials at the German embassy were not available for comment.
Police chief of Kabul city General Mohammad Ayub Salangi told journalists that only civilians were killed in the blast. He said German diplomat was unhurt. The scene was soon surrounded by the Afghan police and allied foreign troops and people were warned to stay away.
Another police official on the spot said the German embassy car was damaged in the attack.
Separately, a roadside bomb left one Afghan guard dead and another injured in the country’s southern province of Kandahar.
The bomb targeted vehicle of the US security agency USPI. Both the dead and injured were Afghans working with the agency, said Zalmay Ayubi, spokesman for the provincial government.
He said the blast took place in the province’s border town of Spin Boldak around 11:00 a.m. (local time). The vehicle was damaged in the balst, he added.
