Court notice to police over suspected terrorist’s plea

By IANS,

New Delhi : A city court Monday issued notice to Delhi Police following a rights violation plea by suspected terrorist Shaquib Nisar, arrested for his alleged involvement in the Sep 13 bomb blasts here.

Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate P.K. Jain issued notice to Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Sanjeev Yadav, the investigative officer in the case, and asked him to file his reply by Oct 10, the next date of hearing.

Nisar filed his application through his counsel Vikas Padora.

“Nisar’s fundamental rights were violated by police as till date no information has been given to his parents about his arrest and the grounds of arrest,” Padora pleaded.

“Nisar was arrested on Sep 20 (from Jamia Nagar in south Delhi) but all the procedures and mandatory guidelines, which are to be complied with by the police, were completely bypassed. No one from the family of the accused was informed why he was arrested and on what grounds he was arrested.”

The lawyer had earlier moved some applications seeking permission to meet him but they could not be heard in Yadav’s absence.

Nisar and four other suspected terrorists are in police custody till Oct 14.

He was arrested for his alleged involvement in the blasts at Gaffar Market in Karol Bagh. The serial bombings in the evening of Sep 13 claimed 24 lives and left 124 people injured.
