By KUNA,

Islamabad : The government has summoned a joint session of the parliament to discuss the policy and strategy on the war against terrorism amid rising territorial and air violations by US forces and militancy in the country. Farhatullah Baber, the spokesman for the ruling Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), talking to media said that the government is committed to the supremacy of the parliament and for that a joint session of the parliament has been called to discuss the anti-terrorism strategy.

He said the debate on the issue in the parliament would not only help devise a plan as per the aspirations of the representatives of the people but would also provide an opportunity to take the masses into confidence on the issue.

He criticizing former President Pervez Musharrafs strategy called it a one-man policy and said that the nation and the political parties were neither consulted nor taken into confidence on this issue in the past.

The government would be listening to the point of view of all political parties through their representatives in the parliament besides ascertaining the general sentiments of the people and their representatives about the role of Pakistan in the war on terrorism, he said.

The move comes amid rising anger among masses over repeated US violation of Pakistans territory and airspace.

The US forces have been conducting missile attacks in Pakistans bordering areas since last two months that have so far killed over more than 50 including women and children and wounded several others.

Islamabad has been lodging strong protests over the attacks but the US forces have been least deterred.
