Raipur : The Chhattisgarh government Monday declared nine sub-districts (tehsils) as drought-hit areas and suspended loan recovery from the residents of these areas.
“A cabinet meet chaired by Chief Minister Raman Singh decided to direct the district authorities to immediately start the relief work in the nine tehsils in Rajnandgaon and Kawardha districts and suspend loan recovery till further order,” Food Minister Satyanand Rathia told reporters.
The sub-districts are Chuikhadan, Rajnandgaon, Khairagarh, Ambagarh, Chowki, Mohla, Pandariya, Bodla and Sahaspur-Lohara.
The state goes to assembly polls by the year-end and the model code of conduct may come into place any time this week.
