New Delhi: The two-day 29th all India conference of Markazi Jamiat Ahle Hadees Hind began today in Delhi’s sprawling Ram Lila Maidan with thousands of its members from across the country sitting in the 30,000 capacity pandal.

In his inaugural speech Maulana Ali Asghar Imam Mehdi, general secretary of Markazi Jamiat Ahle Hadees Hind, applauded the audience for coming from across the country even though the situation in several parts of the country is volatile, communal violence is spreading and Muslims are under fear.

Maulana Mehdi said: “The message of Islam has always prompted its followers to come ahead in any fight for virtues and against vices. This was the spirit with which Ulama-e-Sadiqpur of Bihar played a pivotal role in our Independence struggle.”

He further said that Islam stands for peace and justice and it is opposed to force, coercion, terror and injustice, but it’s ironic that these days it was being accused for sponsoring patronizing terrorism.

Emphasizing upon the importance and significance of the first ever All India conference of the 102-year-old Markazi Jamiat Ahle Hadees Hind in Delhi in the post-Indepence India, Maulana Mehdi said that the last all India conference of the organization in Delhi was held in 1944. So far it has held 28 conferences across the country.

Addressing the gathering Maulana Muqtada Ahsan Azhari, director Madrasa Salfia Banaras, supported globalization if it is practiced with human values and ethics.

In the context of uncertainty over global economy, Maulana Azhari said the Islamic economic system and banking system can be a better alternative. He urged the economists and governments world over to study the Islamic economic system in which there is no place for interest.

Syed Shahabuddin, ex-MP and ex-president of All India Muslim Majlise Mushawarat, talked about human rights movements, human rights violations and Islamic teaching about protection of human rights.

On minority rights, he said today in India, minorities are being denied of their basic human rights, their members are being killed in encounters and hundreds of innocents have been arrested.

Maulana Mohammad Muqim Faizi, Convener of the conference, said about 30,000 delegates from different parts of the country are expected in the two-day conference. The conference will be addressed by top leaders of Ahle Hadees and other schools of thoughts from India and abroad. He said several issues related to the central theme “Message of Islam to Humanity” in the present context will be discussed in different sessions.

Besides Jamiat’s president Hafiz Yahya Dehlvi and 22 zonal presidents, several Islamic scholars from abroad are also attending the conference. They include: Dr. Salim Bin Umar Abdullah, Rector, Jamia Islamia, Madinah, Prof. Dr. Sulaiman Salimullah Ar-Ruhaili, Shariah College, Madinah, Shaikh Abdul Aziz Ali Al-Mal, Islamic scholar, Qatar and Sahikh Abdur Rahman Bin Abdullah Al-Idan, Riyadh (Saudi Arabia).
