Denpasar (Indonesia) : Security at every entry point into the island resort of Bali has been tightened following the arrest of a suspected terrorist in Jakarta on Tuesday, police said.
“We have ordered security personnel to intensify security at every entry point into Bali following Tuesday’s arrest of a suspected terrorist in Jakarta,” Bali Police chief Inspector General Ashikin Husein, was quoted by Antara news agency as saying here on Wednesday.
He said besides anticipating the possible entry of terrorists into Bali, the security measure was stepped up following the ongoing Asian Beach Games (ABG) on the resort island.
“Since we have been entrusted with hosting the Asian Beach Games, we have to ensure security across the island,” Ashikin Husein said.
He said the security has been tightened among others at Ngurah Rai international airport and a number of sea ports such as Gilimanuk, Padangbai, Benoa, and Celukanbawang.
He added that the security personnel with sleuth hound to trace explosive materials brought by suspected terrorists through the entry points into Bali.
Ashikin Husein said that with the tight security measure, Bali was expected be safe from bomb explosion and other terrorist act, following the arrest of a suspected terrorist identified as Wahyu in Jakarta on Tuesday.
Wahyu was arrested at a rented house at Kelapa Gading area in North Jakarta.
