By IANS,

New Delhi : Information and Broadcasting Minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi, who suffered a heart attack early this month, continues to be on life support, hospital sources said Thursday.

Dasmunsi, 63, was rushed to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Oct 13 and was shifted to the Indraprastha Apollo Hospital Monday after suffering a second heart attack in three months.

A statement issued by the hospital Thursday said that “the medical condition of the union minister remains the same and he continues to be on life support”.

Dasmunsi was taken to the hospital after he complained of breathlessness due to lung congestion caused by heart failure and was put on a ventilator.

The senior Congress leader has a 10-year history of diabetes.

Dasmunsi, also head of the West Bengal Congress Committee, was admitted to the Coronary Care Unit (CCU) in AIIMS. But was shifted to the private hospital on the family’s requests.

The senior Congress leader had suffered a heart attack July 8 and had undergone an angioplasty and stenting of two coronary arteries.
