Kozhikode : Relatives of Muhammed Fayaz and Abdul Rahim, two suspected terrorists from Kerala killed in a shootout in north Kashmir, have told officials that they do not want their bodies.
“We don’t want his body as he stands charged with sedition. Let the authorities decide what to do with his body,” T.K. Saddique, a maternal uncle of Fayaz, told reporters at Kannur in Kerala.
“We could have accepted (his body) if he were involved in some other cases. His actions are against our ethos and beliefs. We are Indians, our loyalty should be towards our country, not to a terrorist group.”
Fayaz’s mother Safiya has submitted an authorization to the authorities here to bury her son’s body in Jammu and Kashmir.
Police in Malappuram district said Rahim’s relatives had sought help for a religious burial for him in Jammu and Kashmir. Rahim was a native of Prappanangadi in Malappuram district.
“They have faxed such a request to the superintendent of police and the district collector at Kupwara. They also submitted copies of the request here,” Abdul Kareem, the deputy superintendent of police in Malappuram, told IANS.
