Diseases feared after Yemeni floods

By SPA,

Sana’a, Yemen : The World Health Organization has expressed fears that waterborne diseases and malaria could strike southern Yemen, following massive flooding caused by
a tropical storm last week, Associated Press reported.

Top Yemeni official Sadek Amin Abu Ras says that the death toll has reached 93.

WHO said in its Wednesday statement that it has provided $100,000 for the affected population, in addition to medicine for some 50,000 patients in the hard-hit southern
provinces of Hadramut and al-Mahra.

The discrepancy in casualty reports is because scores are believed to be missing or buried under debris of thousands of demolished mud brick houses.
