Lucknow : At least 25 girl students were hospitalised as they took ill after having breakfast in a government-run residential school in Uttar Pradesh’s Lucknow district, an official said Monday.
“After complaining of severe stomach ache, the students started vomiting following which they were rushed to a hospital,” said Lucknow Basic Shiksha Adhikari (BSA) Rakesh Kumar.
The incident took place at the Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya in Kakori locality on Lucknow’s outskirts, he added.
According to officials, the girls had tea and mushy peas for breakfast.
Edibles in the kitchen of the residential school have been sealed to ascertain whether the case was of food poisoning or not, the official added.
