Russia for Negotiations with USA

By Prensa Latina,

Moscow : Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov called the United States to come to terms with what he described as “post-US peace” analyzing bilateral relations.

During a lecture to students of the Institute of International Affairs of Moscow, Lavrov said the attempt of living in a world under a single power has turned into a dangerous situation.

The Russian foreign minister also used the recent invasion of Georgia on South Ossetia as an example of how his nation has suffered offenses in the international policy arena.

He stressed, though, that Moscow will not get involved in confrontations and is willing to negotiate with Washington if there is the slightest chance of reaching an agreement.

Lavrov also said the United States must understand a positive relation between both powers can only be built from reciprocity and complete honesty.

In reference to the European Union, Lavrov said it should return to simple, not politicized values, starting from the vital interests of the so-called Old Continent.

Regarding the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), Lavrov said it is not a chessboard for geo-political games but an area of mutual civilization for all peoples of the region.
