United Nations : Cuba denounced Friday at the UN the high cost in human lives and economic damages it has suffered due to US-boosted State terrorism.
Ambassador Ileana Nunez stressed the importance of the Global Strategy against Terrorism, adopted by the General Assembly.
This document must be the central instrument of the global struggle against that scourge, the diplomat said at a session dedicated to reviewing the UN Global Strategy against Terrorism.
The struggle against terrorism is an issue of crucial interest and importance for the Cuban government and people, the official noted.
Nunez recalled that “Cubans have been victims of innumerable terrorist actions for over 45 years, conceived by the hatred and irrational wishes of an international power.”
The ambassador pointed out that entity “has not ceased its attempts to end the economic, political and social system we have chosen, exercising our right to free determination and independence.”
The diplomat said her country is firmly commited to the struggle against terrorism and in defense of multilateralism.
“Cuba rejects all terrorist actions, methods and practices in all ways and demonstrations,” she stressed.
“Cuba is against terrorism as a pretext to justify interference in internal affairs of other States,” she said.
Terrorism is a phenomenon that the whole international community must fight, in an atmosphere of close cooperation and in the framework of respect to the UN Charter and International Law, she stated.
