Havana : Cuba´s President Raul Castro officially welcomed Friday the president of Timor-Leste, Jose Ramos Horta, who is on a state visit to the Caribbean island state.
The ceremony took place at the Havana Revolution Palace, where the foreign stateman received military honors.
Ramos Horta was accompanied by Edigio de Jesus (Timor-Leste Ambassador to Havana) and Nelson Santos (his Ambassador to UN) and other members of his delegation.
Also attending were Cuban First Vice-President Jose Ramon Machado Ventura and Foreign Minister Felipe Perez Roque.
Early on Friday, Ramos Horta laid a wreath at the monument of Cuba´s National Hero, Jose Marti.
The East Timorese President arrived in Havana on Wednesday at the invitation of the Cuban government. His state visit is scheduled to end Tuesday.
