A powerful bomb attached to a vehicle exploded with a huge bang near a checkpost, about 10 to 12 kilometers from Peshawar, the capital of North-West Frontier Province (NWFP), police sources told KUNA.

They said the explosion was so powerful that it brought down a nearby market plaza and a boys school, burying several people under the debris.

The police sources said that more than 15 people had been confirmed killed in the explosion and over 50 others had been admitted to hospitals.

They feared rise in the death toll as several wounded people were in critical condition.
