Umrah pilgrims from Rajasthan duped by travel agent

By TwoCircles.net staff reporter,

New Delhi: They were told by their travel agent that their visa and passport was ready in Delhi and their flight was scheduled for September 4 at 8 am. When they reached there, there was no trace of the agent who had, in fact, duped them of their passport and Rs. two crore.

They are 165 Muslims from Rajasthan’s Udaipur, Jodhpur, Bikaner and Jaipur districts. They had deposited Rs 40,000-70,000 each to Jodhpur’s Al-Mahran Company. They wanted to perform Umrah. Their agent in Jodhpur told them to reach Delhi as paper work was complete and their flight was scheduled.

They reached Delhi only to know that they have been cheated. Now they are staying in a hotel in Jama Masjid area.

The Delhi police are not registering their case. They say the case falls in the jurisdiction of the Jodhpur police, so the case will be registered there.
