Judicial probe of Azamgarh violence demanded

New Delhi: Several political and Muslim religious and social organizations have condemned the violence on Sunday in Azamgarh and demanded a judicial probe. In the clash between Sangh Parivar supporters and local minority community members, a Muslim youth was killed in firing.

UP Communist Party of India (ML) has demanded judicial enquiry into the communal violence and a ban on VHP, Hindu Yuvavahini and other Hindutva extremist organizations, says a report in the Urdu daily Hamara Samaj.

CPI (ML) has blamed Mayawati government in the state for the violence as it is giving security and safety to BJP and Sangh Parivar.

The violence broke out on Sunday when BJP Member of Parliament Yogi Adityanath was going to address an anti-terrorism conference in Azamgarh’s DAV College ground. Instead of going to the venue through main road, his cavalcade was moved through dense and narrow Muslim localities. Besides, his supporters began making inflammatory sloganeering.

Meanwhile, some Muslim organizations have also condemned the violence. Expressing its anger at the violence, All India Milli Council has demanded arrest of MP Yogi Adityanath and his supporters who were indulged in violence.

Condemning the violence, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind has demanded legal action against the culprits who tried to destroy the peaceful atmosphere in the city.
