New Delhi : Workers of the Indian Biocon biotechnological company agreed on Thursday to donate a day-salary to the Cuban people, immersed in hard recovery from the damages of hurricanes Gustav and Ike.
The company’s executives reported that the Cuban embassy to New Delhi about their decision, soon after becoming aware of the extent of the natural disaster.
Biocon company, which is in Bangalore and manufactures biotechnological products and medicines, develops a joint program with the Cuban Center of Molecular Immunology to produce biopharmaceuticals.
The Caribbean island has been recently hit by two hurricanes with unprecedented strength.
First, hurricane Gustav wrecked the western provinces of Isla de la Juventud and Pinar del Rio, and eight days later hurricane Ike swept the Island from east to west, seriously damaging all provinces and making the situation in Pinar del Rio even worse.
