Washington : Congressman Jim McDermott supported a resolution to promote the impeachment of US President George W. Bush.
According to Democracy Now Radio and TV News, the legislator demanded an inquiry about the accusations against Bush.
McDermott said he was attacked for disclosing Bush’s intentions of getting the country involved in a war but the US citizens later discovered the truth.
He also said they hold the responsibility of investigating the truth of these endless accusations, reason why he backed the resolution.
McDermott is the tenth member of the House of Representatives to support the measure formerly presented by Democrat Congressman for Ohio Dennis Kucinich.
In June, the lower house put off the debate on presidential impeachment and sent the initiative to the Judicial Commission, allowing Democrats to put it indefinitely on ice.
Kucinich accused Bush of orchestrating the war in Iraq on the basis of a lie, and of violating US laws and international agreements by invading the Arab nation.
He also said Bush did not provide soldiers with appropriate material and manipulated the casualty reports for political purposes.
Kucinich said the US president ordered the illegal arrest of US and foreign citizens, and criticized his environmental policies and his answer to hurricane Katrina’s damages to the Mississippi area.
In 2007 Kucinich failed presenting a resolution to accuse Vice-President Richard Cheney.
