Delhi civic body moves to handle all corruption cases

By IANS,

New Delhi : All corrupt government officials beware! The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) that has arrested 13 Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) engineers on graft charges is now gunning to clear all pending complaints.

The ACB has formed a small cell to specially look into pending complaints of corruption.

“We have formed a small team to clear the backlog of cases pending for the past four years. We will soon be taking action against corrupt officials,” Additional Commissioner of Police (ACB) N. Dilip Kumar told IANS.

“Special attention would be given to clearing the backlog soon,” Kumar added.

ACB had Wednesday arrested 13 MCD engineers against whom cases have been registered since 2003. The cases related to charges of misusing funds through various modes, including substandard construction work.

Though a lot of MCD officials cried foul over the arrest of the engineers, ACB officials maintained that the action was taken after prior permission.

“A prior sanction was sought from the MCD in the case. Investigation from our side in the case has been completed,” Kumar said.

The 13 engineers were produced before a city court Thursday, which sent them to 14 days of judicial custody.
