New Delhi : India’s industrial production registered a sluggish growth of 5.7 percent during April-July, compared to 9.7 percent in the corresponding period last fiscal.
In July this year, industrial production registered a growth of 7.1 percent as compared to 8.3 percent the same month the previous year.
The official index of industrial production (IIP) was released by the ministry of statistics and programme implementation.
This July, the mining sector grew at five percent, manufacturing 7.5 percent and electricity 4.5 percent, as compared to 3.2 percent, 8.8 percent and 7.5 percent in July last year respectively.
In April-July this year, the mining sector grew at 4.5 percent against 2.7 percent in the same period last fiscal, while growth of the manufacturing sector slumped to 6.1 percent from 8.5 percent last corresponding period.
The electricity sector grew at 2.6 percent in July, compared to 8.1 percent in the same month last year.
