Pakistan: Benazir’s mission comlpeted, democracy restored in country, says President

Nawabshah, Pakistan : President Asif Ali Zardari said that democracy has been completely restored in the country and we have completed the mission of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto.

He was talking to PPP members of National and Provincial assemblies and party office bearers at VIP Lounge of Nawabshah Airport on Friday.

President Zardari said PPP does not believe in the politics of revenge with opponents and that is the reason why PPP tried to bring political forces of the country on one platform.

He said his success in presidential election by more than two-third- majority is a result of the prayers of the people and he thanks them all.

The President said Nawabshah remained ignored during the last eleven years due to political opposition and his government would certainly provide relief in this regard, he added. He said that a special package of development would be approved for Nawabshah.

President Asif Zardari said revolutionary changes would be introduced in the Irrigation Department in order to combat canal water scarcity while on the other hand steps would be taken to prevent water theft.

He said the growers at the tail would get their genuine share of water and in this regard a proposal of metering system on watercourses is under consideration in order to detect water theft.

Asif Ali Zardari assured to direct Wapda not to issue detection bills. He said this when his attention was drawn by Assembly members over the issue of public complaints on theft of electricity and the issuance of detection bill without any justification.

President Zardari said the government is working on programmes meant to control price hike, unemployment and elimination of poverty. The efforts would show positive results in near future, he added.

He said the government would fight unemployment by providing more jobs in the private and public organisations.

The President said the programme to provide agricultural land to landless peasants, specially women peasants, has taken off.

Earlier, President Asif Ali Zaradri arrived at Nawabshah Airport and left for a visit to the Shrine of Lal Shahbaz Qalandar in Sehwan and Shah Latif Bhittai at Bhit Shah where he laid a wreath and offered Fateha.

Later, the President arrived at Baloo Ja Qubba where he offered Fateha for his mother and also laid a wreath. He also offered Fateha for his elders Bilawal Faqir and laid a wreath at the grave.

President Asif Zardari later left for Karachi by a special plane.

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah and Provincial Minister Syed Murad Ali accompanied him. He was seen off at the airport by MNA Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah, MPAs Ghulam Qadir Chandio, Ahmed Ali Jalbani, Sardar Jam Tamachi, officiating District Nazim Abdul Haque Jamali, PPP Taluka President Ziaul Hassan Lanjar and others.
