New Delhi: In connection with the Delhi blasts, the ATS sleuths picked up two persons Abdul Rasheed Agwan and Adnan Fahad from Abul Fazl Enclave area under Jamia Nagar Police Station in the national capital today.

“Around 11 am on Sunday, 12-15 persons, some of them with guns, reached House No. F-34 in Abul Fazl Enclave Part I, two of them went up to the third floor, knocked at the door saying they are from gas agency. They went in, looked for their ‘prey’ Adnan Fahad but there was no male,” said Adnan’s neighbour Nayeem to TwoCircles.net.

They asked his wife to call Adnan who was in the neighbourhood. As soon as he reached home he was asked to come with them, added Nayeem who also went with Adnan to some distance but the police officers asked him to go back.

Adnan, father of two kids, one 3 and half years old and another barely one years old, runs a small shop for DTP work in Daryaganj in the Walled City area.

“He has never been attached to SIMI or any other organization, said Nayeem adding that he is a very noble and simple man, he never had any fight with anyone.” The police officers said they were taking for just questioning for 15-20 minutes.

Around one hour later at 12:15 pm, three vans full with ATS sleuths entered Shaheen Bagh (Abul Fazl Enclave Part II). They reached to the house of Abdul Rasheed Agwan and took him also for questioning.

“When we asked for their ID, they didn’t show any card,” said Taufique Agwan, his son to TwoCircles.net.

Abdul Rasheed Agwan runs an NGO called Universal Knowledge Trust that provides scholarship to poor students. He also runs a consultancy Centre for Advancement of Voluntary Efforts. It helps people in opening NGOs.

What has shocked the families of these two persons is that they were taken for questioning for 15-20 minutes and two hours later, news was flashed on television channels that two persons have been arrested in the connection of the Delhi serial blasts.

Dr Zafarul-Islam Khan, head of the Mushawarat, the umbrella body of Indian Muslim organisations, condemned this arrest and said that this is a clear sign that the conspiracy to malign the whole Indian Muslim community has now entered the next stage. Until now faceless and unknown Muslim youths were arrested on unproved charges of terrorism, now the emboldened security agencies have moved further up the ladder and will arrest Muslim leaders with clean image. These very agencies and their supporting chorus in the media, both of which have totally forfeited the trust of the Muslim community, play blind whenever Hindu terrorists are caught red-handed making bombs, most recently in Kanpur last month.

Dr Khan demanded that Mr Agwan should be set free forthwith unless the security agencies have something concrete against him. If they do have any such proof in their possession, they must share it with the Muslim leadership in the country.
On Saturday evening five serials blasts rocked the city when bombs exploded in busy market places with people shopping on the weekend. So far 21 persons have been killed and around 100 wounded.

Minutes before the blast an email was sent to some media organizations claiming responsibility of the blast. The mail was sent by the mysterious outfit Indian Mujahideen.

That email, like one sent before Ahmedabad serial blasts, was also traced to Mumbai.
