Tehran : First Vice-President Parviz Davoodi said on Monday that Lebanese President Michel Suleiman will visit Iran on an invitation by President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
“Following an invitation extended by Dr. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the president of the Islamic Republic of Iran, to Michel Suleiman, the president of Lebanon, he has given positive response and is to travel to Iran,” said Davoodi in a meeting with Lebanese Ambassador to Tehran Zein Ali al-Mousawi.
Davoodi said solid bonds between the Iranian and Lebanese nations, necessitates expansion of mutual cooperation in different fields.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran has always welcomed peace and tranquility in the region, especially in Lebanon, and is eager to see all regional nations live in calm and friendship,” he added.
He hoped that Suleiman’s Iran visit will help both countries bolster mutual ties.
Appreciating the Lebanese people’s resistance to the Zionist Regime’s “brazen” attacks and aggressions, Davoodi said Iran’s policies favor dialogue among various Lebanese groups.
Al-Mousawi, hoping that Suleiman’s visit would lead to opening of a new chapter in bilateral relations, said the Iranian and Lebanese nations have common grounds for expansion of cooperation.
