Bangalore : Nepal is keen to bring about an Information Technology revolution like India’s tech hub Bangalore has done, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda said Wednesday.
“I am impressed with the all round vibrancy of Bangalore. Nepal can bring about a similar change in its society with special emphasis on cooperation in IT sector,” Prachanda said addressing a luncheon meeting with members of the Karnataka chapter of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) here.
The Nepali prime minister arrived here from Delhi Wednesday morning on a two-day visit. He was received at the airport by a state minister as the Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa was out of town in the morning.
Soon after his arrival, Prachanda visited the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and was briefed about its activities.
Welcoming private investment in his country, particularly in hydro-power and IT sectors, Prachanda told the industrialists at the luncheon meeting that the new industrial policy his government will shortly announce will be “investor friendly”.
President of the Confederation of Nepalese Industry Binod Chaudhary invited Indian IT companies to set up training centres in his country.
Asked about the opportunities for small and medium Indian firms in Nepal, Prachanda said the proposed policy will make it congenial for investments in this sector.
“Wait for the new policy. It will create investor friendly environment,” he said.
Former president of CII, Karnataka, C. P. Rangachar said: “There is tremendous scope for cooperation between India and Nepal. We can leverage the synergies of the two counties in many areas for mutually beneficial business.”
