Islamabad : A jirga or council of Pakistani tribesmen Wednesday warned of severe action against the American troops if they tried to attack the tribal regions, tribal elders said.
“The eight million tribal people are ever ready to offer any sacrifice for safeguarding their motherland against foreign forces”, tribal elders told a gathering of around 4,000 tribesmen from major Ahmedzai Wazir tribe.
The jirga held days after American ground forces entered Pakistani territory from Afghanistan on September 3rd and killed around 20 people, including women and children, according to governor North West frontier province.
U.S drones also frequently fire missiles in Waziristan regions, causing casualties.
The U.S army chief Admiral Mullen concluded his talks with Pakistani military and political leadership on Wednesday and the main focus had been security along the Pak-Afghan border.
Admiral Mullen warned last month that the U.S forces in Afghanistan can undertake unilateral action in Pakistani tribal regions against al-Qaeda and Taliban elements.
“We will fight along side our brave army against foreign aggression and will not even hesitate to lay down our lives”, said the tribal elders while addressing a jirga of over 4000 tribesmen.
Former member National Assembly Maulana Muhammad Noor Wazir and several tribal elders and elected councilors condemned what they called naked aggression by the US led allied forces against innocent people in Angoor Adda in South Waziristan on September 3.
They said tribesmen are soldiers of Pakistan who will defend every inch of their motherland at any cost and the history of the tribal people was replete with such brave activities.
