By IANS,

Ghaziabad : The Howrah-bound Kalka mail from Delhi was stopped for two hours at Ghaziabad Thursday after the Delhi police received a hoax phone call in which the caller informed the police that a bomb had been planted on the train.

The police received the call immediately after the train left New Delhi station at 7:15 a.m. Simultaneously, the Government Railway Police (GRP) Ghaziabad also received a similar call, informing them of a bomb on the train.

At 8.00 a.m. when the train reached Ghaziabad junction, the GRP with the help of local police screened the train.

Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) personnel and sniffer dogs were called in to cordon off the train. No bomb was found on the train. After the search was complete the train was allowed to proceed to its destination.

“The call was found to be a hoax” SP City Vijay Bhushan said.
