Amritsar : Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi made an unscheduled visit Monday to the shrine of Harmandar Sahib, popularly known as the Golden Temple, in this Sikh holy city in Punjab.
Congress sources said Gandhi remained in the sanctum sanctorum for over 25 minutes.
His grandmother and former prime minister Indira Gandhi was held responsible by many in the Sikh community for the attack on the Golden Temple during Operation Bluestar against Sikh militants in June 1984.
