Cairo : The Arab League is deeply dissatisfied over its exclusion in the UN Palestinian Aid Coordination Committee meeting to be held in New York on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.
Exclusion from the meeting, called on by Norway, raised many questions, the League’s secretariat said in a press release here Monday, revealing that Israel, which would participate in the meeting, could veto any group from attending the event.
The secretariat also said that Israel had been responsible in preventing aid from reaching Palestinians and the League was always among the first to offer aid.
Norway, which set the rules for participation in the meeting, had made it a requirement that groups keen to participate must have paid over USD 100 million to Palestinians on an annual basis, which the League claimed it had exceeded in many occasions.
The statement affirmed that the League would not be dealing with the committee if it continues to pursue this kind of unbalanced policy.
The secretariat stressed that the League would be operating outside the boundaries of the committee for the sake of Palestinians who are under continuous abuse by Israel.
