New Delhi: In a good move to defuse the tension the students of Jamia Millia Islamia are in, in the wake of the Batla House police encounter and subsequent arrest of some people including two JMI students, Prof Mushirul Hasan, Vice Chancellor, will address the students on September 24.
The interaction between the Vice Chancellor and the student community will not be open to the press. Its purpose is to hold a free and frank exchange between the student community and the Vice Chancellor in his capacity both as a teacher and the head of the institution, says a release.
An emergent meeting of the Academic Council and the Executive Council separately will be held on campus on September 25.
Also on September 25, a Peace March will be taken out on the Campus at 11.00 am. The Vice Chancellor shall lead the procession which will include Jamia teaching staff, students and administrative staff. The procession is expected to assemble at the Faculty of Engineering at 10.45 am and shall wind its way around the campus.
