Mumbai: Movement for Peace& Justice (MPJ) has welcomed the court decision punishing those responsible for killing of Dalits in 2006.
In 2006, four of a Dalit family were brutally killed in Khairlanji village of Maharashtra. 11 peoples were charged for the murder. The district court at Bhandara today announced death sentence for 6 of the accused and 2 were given life sentence.
In a statement MPJ said that it is “the justice delivered to the oppressed & those seen as down trodden in the society.” The statement added that this judgement will “bring a confidence to those who have trust in the law of land.”
MPJ also said that this will set a good example to people and organizations that cause disturbance in the society.
